Participants travelling to Chathaburi on their own

Travelling from Bangkok to Chanthaburi is rather convenience. There two means of transportations to Chanthaburi:  by ground and by air.  Ground transportation is by far the most convenience and inexpensive option.

Travelling by Ground:

After arriving at Suvarnarbhumi airport, take a free shuttle in front of the Arriving Hall to the Bus Terminal inside the airport.  The shuttle takes only a few minutes and run at all hours.

At the Bus Terminal, there are two options to choose from.

Air-conditioned bus.  There are four trips to Chanthaburi every day departing at 8:20, 10:20, 15:10 and 18:10.  The trip takes 3.5 hours and cost 187 baths.  The bus will drop you off at Chanthaburi bus terminal. From there, a local taxi service to the Maneechan Resort will be available.

Air-conditioned van.  Take a van service en route to Koh Chang, Trat province which departs from the terminal three times a day at 7:30, 11:00 and 14:00.  The van services take only 3 hours and will drop you off at Meneechan resort or KP Grand Hotel.  It costs 400 baths.  Since the resorts are not the final destination of the van, please make sure to tell the driver that you wish to get off at Maneechan or KP Grand hotel, Chanthaburi.

Another way to travel to Chanthaburi from Bangkok is by bus from Bangkok Ekamai Eastern Bus Terminal, which is located on Sukhimvit 63 Rd. in downtown Bangkok.  There are buses to Chanthaburi every hour between 5:00 and midnight from this major bus terminal.  The trip takes between 4 and 5 hours depending on traffic inside the city.  The best way to get to Ekamai Terminal from the airport is by taxi which costs 250-350 baths depending on traffic.

Travelling by air:

Bangkok airway www.bangkokair.com operates several flights a day to Trat airport which is the nearest airport to the symposium site.  The Trat airport is about 70 km from Chanthaburi.  From Trat airport, there is a minivan limousine service (accommodate up to 8 persons) that can take to you to the symposium site.  It cost 2,300 baths (~ 80 US$) and takes about 45 minutes.
